Sitting down sports?

Where did that come from ‘Sitting down sports’, it seems like the Australians and a handful of UK residents have decided to belittle team GB’s achievements in the Beijing Olympics.

Which is pretty rich coming from the Australians who are good at the ‘running indoors like little girls because it’s raining sports’ such as cricket, but hey if they want focus on being sore losers then that’s all they’ll be seen as. It’s a shame really because I’m sure there was healthy respect for them giving us a good beating in Sydney and Athens (especially the track cycling). Oh yes and where exactly did the Australia gold medals come from? Rowing, sailing, swimming and triathlon, there’s some sitting down sports in there too guys, we have a saying here in the UK which contains the words pot, kettle and black. Need I say more.

On a positive note it’s good to see the GB athletes from the different disciplines supporting each other at the Olympics, they and anyone remotely interested in keeping themselves even borderline fit seem to understand that whatever sport you’re in whether it’s sitting in a boat, running around a track or swimming up and down a pool it takes a hell of a lot of determination and hard work to even get into the Olympics let alone win a medal, so on that note I’d like to say well done Team GB.

For those cynics out there who think sitting down sports are easy. Try and take a ride up Alp D’Huez, for any Australians who are feeling the pain, don’t worry there’s always London 2012.
